Crunchy Crunchy

Stir fried French bean with Vermicelli
I’ve cooked this countless times and now only I remembered to share the recipe with you all.

The crunchiness of the french beans, with a little saltiness from the fish sauce and dried shrimps was such a fine blend.

The vermicelli is so loved by Sarah. She is a big fan of the dish, and she can gobble up quite a big portion of it.

Jicama Chili Sticks

When I was googling for some jicama salad recipe, lucky me, I got this.

You can enjoy this Mexico street food by just using four ingredients: Jicama, lime, chili powder and salt; and the preparation are unbelievably easy!

I highly recommend this cooling and refreshing snack to everyone.

Skipping Rope

I was fascinated to jump rope exercise during my childhood day. I often skipped lunch just to play the game with friends at school; it entertains me great deal during those time.

Fast forward to now Sarah loved this game as much as I do. She started practicing it months ago; of course, she will trip at times, and after numerous trying, she get exhausted and then stopped.

Recently Sarah skips with the rope again and with added patience and perseverance, she has pick up the skill gradually; she’s now able to complete seven to eight jumps in a row.

Jumping rope might be an old fashion game, but it’s still a fun and inexpensive way to keep Sarah active. Agree?

A Year in School (2012)

The recent Parents-teachers Day has just put a smile on our face.

As usual, we relish the chance to discuss one-to-one about Sarah’s progress in school. To cut things short, teacher commented that Sarah is now more independent and confident of herself (a big leap from last time).

And the surprise came when we was about to end the conversation – that Sarah was among the chosen few who get the “Special Award” this year!

We felt really proud of her and were pleased that all her hard work and efforts is recognized by teachers with their positive remark.

School Carnival

My alma mater has organized a fund-raising carnival months ago and to show our support, we decided to bring Sarah there; we were more than excited for the day as she has never joins such activities before. Of course, this kind of outing will be much fun if more kids are there, therefore, we asked along Sarah’s cousins.

I was happily showing Sarah around my school compound but predictably, the kids are more interested towards the games. To their credit, they’ve actually tried hard on the games and won some prizes too!

Coupons, free foods, clown show and a lot of pressies…carnival is always a guarantee fun family outing.

I can’t recalled if I love colouring during my childhood time but now I‘m kind of into it…it’s almost like my new found hobby!

my work

Whenever Sarah feel bored and asked me for games, this will be the thing I always suggest; I just love sitting down with her and beatify the pictures with colours. Sometimes we both will work together to finishing the job.

Our work

It’s funny but true, colouring has become a way of bonding between me and Sarah.

School Concert & Excursion

Kindergarten is no longer your plain vanilla pre-school education provider nowadays; a case in point, school concert and excursion’s already a “standard” features in most of the kindie today…

School Concert
Of course, Sarah’s school is no exception; they just held a concert recently and Sarah took part in the Arabian Dance. To our disbelieve she’s actually quite enjoy the show and has no stage fear at all!

This is second time Sarah join the annual school trip. They went to “Farm in the city” near Sri Kembangan and parents are not allowed to tag along, so we can only know from the pictures that Sarah is having a real good time.

Fancy (Party) Food

During Sarah’s birthday two months ago, I’ve checked out some cool party food from the internet and it’s well received by my family members and the kids.

Orange Agar-Agar
Source: Nasilemaklover.blogspot
Trust me, you will love this once you tasted it! The jellies gain such delighting savors from the fresh orange juice with a little pulp found in it; and they have a smooth texture too.

The tricky part is to remove the orange flesh and preserve the “shell” intact. The shell has to be in a good condition so it holds the jelly mixture well and not leak out.

It takes a little effort but worth a try; the dessert taste good and looked cute too.

Marshmallow Pops
This little treats can be a fun activity to be enjoy with your little one. The kids take pleasure in dipping the marshmallows into the melted chocolate, and later sprinkled with their favourite decorations.

If you are looking for some simple and fun desserts for your upcoming party, then you must try this out.

A Happy Halloween

I just can’t wait to post this one; the Halloween party has left so many good memories in our heart.

It was my neighbour Chui Lee who suggests having a Halloween gathering; by “rotation”, it is my turn to hold the event in my house. Of course, I was more than happy to take up the baton.

This was our first Halloween Party as all of us were very excited. To suits the theme, I’ve put up some decorations and request the kids to come with costume!

It was pot-luck style. To spice things up, I also arrange some games like Spooky Story Telling, Treasure Hunt, Memory Game, Mystery Bowls and Pumpkin Bowling. Yes, it’s all related to Halloween.

The kids had so much fun participating in the activities (obviously, the prizes make them happier). The parents were busy taking photographs and enjoy the chat-time with each other.

As a host, I’m so contented that this mommy-chatting-kids-playing session is well received; at the end, they all bring home the extra foods, with a lot of smiles too.

“Happy” Toys

Without releasing it, Sarah already has so many McDonald’s toys in her collection.

Actually she seldom bugs us for the food; quite opposite, it is the Happy Meal toys that “entice” me to bring her there.

I really enjoyed seeing the smiles on Sarah’s face every time we walked into the place; she will wait earnestly at the ordering counter for the toy (not the food).

She’s only allowed to eat fast food after turning three; so looking at the 20-something Mc D toys, it average down to about 1.125 times per month, and hope this doesn’t make me a bad mommy.

She’s still trying…

Dora the Explorer
It was by chance I saw the advertisement from Nickelodeon that there is a Dora story-telling session held at the MPH Subang Parade. Sarah was so eager to see the mascot although she felt a bit scared when the big Dora appeared in front of her.

But she surprised us by insist that she could take photo (all by herself) with Dora without my company!

She even so brave that she voluntereed to answer a question from story-teller to get a prize.

We went to the story-telling session again in the subsequent month (for a difference story); we think it’s a rare occasion for Sarah to see the Dora “in real person” than in story book.

Meeting with clowns would still be her biggest fear!

Sarah went to her classmate’s birthday party. She totally freaked out the moment she saw the clown inside the house (although she knew in advance); she tried to hold back her tears but she’s just overwhelmed.

We really thought she will have an unpleasant evening but things turned better; she manage to calmed down and later started played with friends. She ends the night by taking photo with the clown. Yippie!

Mid-Autumn Festival 2012

Happy belated Mid-Autumn Festival to all of you!

What a joyous Mooncake-fest we had this year; with the “duo celebration”, one at neighbour’s house and another one held at my parent’s place.

At Chui Lee’s house…
Celebrate the day with neighbours and their kids were a memorable one. This was the first time we organized such event and it turned out delightfully; the adults were (busy) chatting and the kids play late into the night…at the end, we were already planning the next gathering.

“月亮圆” lead by the host of the event

At Parent’s house…
I have set up a tiny fire pit for the kids with carrots, cucumbers, rice and oranges. This real life cooking experience was the first for Sarah and I enjoy seeing her squatted down tirelessly for hours in playing the “masak-masak” with her cousin and the neighbour’s kid.

Of course, we’ll never forget to light up the lanterns and enjoying the foods. I can tell everybody is enjoying the bonding.

Mooncake-fest is all about togetherness; celebrated with families and friends are what give us the real joy.

Fifth Birthday

We always tell Sarah how blessed she was and make sure she keep that in mind…

A case in point, she just had her advance birthday celebration last week with all of the family who loves her; the playmates, the decorations, the food and of course not forgetting the pressies.

On the actual day, I have prepared some party packs to be given out to her classmates; in addition, we brought her for a treat at Tutti Frutti.

As the icing on the cake, her photo was also chosen by the Disney Junior “Birthday Book”.

The birthday wishes I’ve received from FB were tremendous! Thank you all for putting a smile on her face, she was one such lucky girl.
