Healthy Diet

As mentioned on previous post, my mom has been suffered from Bone Spurs and thanks for all of you who concerns and sent regards. Her condition has improved since discharged from hospital, and now she’s resting at my house.

Mom has diabetes too, so her diet needs to be taken care of. I have tried some recipes (which I search from internet) and it does taste good; yet the best of all, my mom likes it.

Oven-Baked Ikan Bilis

Sarah and my mom just love this one. Although it tastes not as flavourful compared to using deep fry method, but they simply love its crunchiness and of little saltiness when added to the plain porridge.

Ginger Fried Rice

My mom’s keen on dishes with ginger usually, so Ginger Fried Rice suits her taste bud well. The fried rice was mild in gingery and spicy, with a nice fragrant from the sesame oil; I also added some Oven-Baked Ikan Bilis to gives extra texture to the dish.

Cucumber, Green Apple and Lemon Juice

This is a must-try juicer recipe! If you hate the taste of raw cucumber, I bet you will change your mind after having the juice, trust me.

I fry the ikan bilis, but without oil. Then blend into very fine powder. When cooking porridge for my little girl, I take a spoonful of it to add into her porridge :P

Alice:
Yes, I did it when Sarah first started solid food last time. It is a good source of calcium for kids and also adding flavour on the porridge.
Does Carol likes the ikan bilis powder?

Cynthia:
Thanks for your regards. My mom is doing much better now.
- Chili powder with Ikan Bilis, I can imagine the great combi. I will try it someday. Thanks!

Kathy:
You overbaked the ikan bilis or it is not so crunchy yeah?
But one key word of doing the oven baking, must be patient and have to keep an eye throughout the process.
Good luck in your next cooking!

Thank you so much for your regards.
So far my schedule is ok in taking care of my mom, is just that her diet has to take extra concern and care.
- Ok, I will take care, thanks!

Mommy Moon:
Actually I also never knew that has such a method to make the ikan bilis crunchier.
It taste not bad and is really crunchy! I normally bake it a bigger portion and keep it in fridge.
- The juice is a MUST TRY drink. It taste superb!

My favourite is ginger fried rice with sesame oil too. I normally eat this during my menstrual period. I was told it is good for woman's health. Hmm, thinking to try out your recommended juice, looks so nutritious.

Shenny's Mommy:
Yes, I heard about the benefits of eating ginger fried rice during menstrual period. Ginger tea also said to be an excellent remedy too, but I never tried before.
- Oh yes, you should try the juice. Is really nice. You just need to blend half of a cucumber, 1.5 biji of green apples and one biji of lemon juice and walla, a very tasty and refreshing juice! Have fun!

Garlic fried rice? May I have the recipes please? Yes, garlic is definitely good for us:-)
- Haha, good that Carol loves most of the food tat mommy cooked for her.
Is normal lah yea, kids will "bleh" the food that they dislike. But her taste preference towards food will changed as she grows up.
