Migration

We are not migrated to oversea but it’s about Sarah’s formula. Sarah suddenly dislikes her Wyeth milk totally…she almost vomited every time she drinks milk; it was started two weeks ago. I don’t like milk myself so I guess she has inherited my “gene” now.

Initially, we came out with the idea of mixing Milo into her milk but it doesn’t works. Then we decided to switch her formula to Sustagen (Chocolate Flavour) and try our luck.

Yes, she likes it better but with one condition - she only drink the chocolate milk with straw instead of using teat.

From the past experience, no matter how discomfort she was during teething, she will still consume milk; so I guess it is only because she changed her taste (about the milk) now.

At the mean time I just prepared the usual solid food for her like noodles, porridge, bread, biscuits and cakes. I am lucky that she still likes solid food.

Now what I need to do is to ensure Sarah drinks plenty of water and eats a lot of fruits, so that she would not get heaty over the new formula.

Yup, I think you can try the vanila too on the sustagen, generally I feel that sustagen a bit sweet!! Chocolate may be a bit heaty!

On top of the choco milk drink you're giving Sarah, do increase her calcium intake with ikan bilis, brocolli and calcium enriched soya bean drink...I was also like Sarah when I was a little girl...didn't like milk after mom introduced milo to me...

Good that she still likes solid.

Yeah, it is extremely important for Sarah to drink more water. Or else she will surely have a problem in poo pooing-)

Kitty and Kristie:
Gotcha! Actually the title was the idea of my husband. I think it is a catchy enuf:-)

Kristie:
Yea, I think Sarah is favouring chocolate food, for example chocolate doughnut, chocolate bar and now chocolate formula. :-)
Water is definitely important for Sarah:-)

Kitty:
Ooo, Ryan is opp with Sarah; Ryan does not like purely chocolate taste. But as long as he likes his current milk mixture, then shall be fine.

KC:
I agreed with you. Milk is still important for a growing toddler. So as long as she still drinks it, I am happy with it.

2ma:
Is it? Shan Leo also had the similar situation before that he refused formula milk? But luckily he was still okay with fresh milk.

mNhL:
Yeap, luckily Sarah still likes solid food. Or else, I will have headache too when bringing her for dining outside.

Olive:
Thanks for reminding me Olive, I have forgotten to add more calcium to her diet. I just think as long as she is drinking her formula, shall be fine. Thanks again!
You also preferred milo than milk when you were a kid. How about now? :-)

Yugene:
Ei, I am not sure whether Sarah will like vanilla flavour, coz I see her is favouring chocolate food, for example chocolate doughnut, chocolate bar and now chocolate formula. :-)
But hor, I never try drinking any formula milk before, coz I do not like it, hehe. But sustagen is more sweet is it? How about Wyeth product?

Kathy:

It's weird that they suddenly refuse the milk they've been drinking. But it does happen. :) Hope the migration is going well.

Joanne,
so sarah doesn't drink from her bottles? I think it's good, cause u can then weaned her off bottles also...

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

Lynette:
As long as I used straw for her to suck the chocolate milk, then she is okay with it.
But at this moment, I am still using the bottle to make her milk too, coz it has the ounces measurement.

Slavemom:
Till now, I still do not know the exact reasons that she dislike her previous formula and changed to chocolate milk. But I am happy now that she still likes milk. ;-)

I hope Sarah will love this one much...! She is now a big girl who wants to say bye bye to bottle-feeding...hehehehe...and switch to grown-up's way of drinking...

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

Ummi:
I hope Sarah would stay with the current chocolate milk, or else I will be having a tough time to figure out another brand for her.
Haha, not bad also yeah that she is able to wean off her bottles just like that.

Rachel:
Yea, luckily Sarah is fine with the chocolate milk, or else I have to figure out another brand for her.

from ur blog subject i thought u r migrating! oops..

i think it's normal for kids to change their preference now and then. at least she still get good vitamins from both the milk and solid food.

hehee, i hated milk since young as my tummy is sensitive to lactose, so my calcium intake over the years are quite low :P

Shirley:
Gotcha with the topic title yeah:-)
Actually I still do not know the actual reason that Sarah dislike her Wyeth formula milk, but as you said, at least she still like her chocolate milk and solid food, I am happy with it:-)
OOo...your tummy is sensitive to lactose? Is that means lactose intolerance? I have heard so much of it, but I do not know what is it actually.
But since you cannot drink milk, how about yogurt?

Kristie said...

Wah not bad, ur hubby also very creative ya heheh...

Good that Sarah still takes lots of solids, thanks to mummy's yummy cooking ;)

I used to add milo into my kids' milk when they reject their milk feeds. Luckily now they are alright with drinking milk. Good luck with Sarah's milk migration :-)

Kristie:
Chong has helped me a lot in blogging, and I gotto thank him for this "catchy" title:-)
Yea, luckily Sarah still okay with most of the solid food and guess what, she falls in love with chocolate milk so much recently.

BoeyJoey:
Sometimes its weird right when kids just out of sudden dislike their milk and wish to try something new.
You also adding milo into your kids' milk when they reject milk? Seems like it is a good way yeah.

Ann said...

my son also now ask me to mix milo in his milk!! :) And I was also thinking of getting a choc flavoured milk instead of giving him Milo!

But eh eh....Sarah big girl already want to drink with straw!

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

Ann:
Is it? Christopher also thinking to "migrate", hehe:-)
Christopher drank milo before? For Sarah, she never had milo, maybe that is the reason she does not like milk mix with milo.
I think you may give a try on chocolate flavour milk. I think it is less heaty as compared to Milo.
Haha, not bad also yeah that she is able to wean off her bottles just like that.

probably Sarah is ready to eat some rice right now?? :) and milk will become secondary by then...

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

Agnes:
Actually Sarah has been eating rice since many months ago and. And sometimes I really amazed with her eating volumn. She could eat rice or noodles a lot and yet still asking for milk after that.
And guess what, now she falls in love with her chocolate milk, so I guess no secondary for her on food. All food are her main food. Hehe.

Jonathan is on Wyeth too. Occasionally, he refused to drink his milk too. So far his it lasted for 2 - 3 days. I just let it be as long as he is taking solid properly. Perhaps you want to let her try Wyeth again after few days. I suppose you still have stocks and don't want to waste it.

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

Julie:
Yea, I knew Jonathan is a Wyeth bb too:), but he is drinking Wyeth Gold is it? For Sarah, she just consumed the normal one.
If I am not wrong, I only left one box of Wyeth formula. I am not sure whether Sarah still likes it as now she is a big fan of Sustagen Chocolate milk, hehe.

Joanne said...

Means Sarah only consume Chocolate favour now..

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

Kylie:
Ya, at least Sarah us drinking milk.
Oh yes, now I recalled Sean has been stop drinking milk for quite some time. But as long as he likes solid food, then ok.

Joanne:
Yes, Sarah totally fall in love with her "chocolate milk2". She will say yes whenever I ask her to drink it.
