Western Breakfast

Sausage, Corn and Orange Juice

When it comes to Sarah’s menu, sometime I feel like I’ve exhausted myself in preparing new dish. So for most of the time, I will just cook the same-old noodle soup or porridge for her.

And then when I realised there is some corn and sausages sitting on my fridge, here comes the idea of making her the western breakfast.

Sarah is never a fan of sausages; but after seeing her showing interest in ketchup (at Mc’D) the other day, I decided to trick her to try sausage with ketchup this time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Outcome:

She felt excited when she saw I brought the meal to the dining table; she then dips the sausages in the ketchup but alas, she still doesn’t like it. Hmm…I thought all the kids love sausage?

Anyway, I am happy that she ate quite a lot of corn (maybe it is because of the butter and salt); she also finished the orange juice and keeps asking for refill.

How you cook the sausage? There are many different sausage in the markets... Maybe try to buy other type. I have bought some from Isetan supermarket, very nice one, small sausage, forgot the name

it's good that she doesn't like sausage, it's not that good in terms of nutrition.

I always discourage my girls from eating sausages by telling them sausages are lousy food but they still love them so much.

To avoid them from eating sausages is not to cook it for them so often. :D

Joanne, totally understand how u feel... for us sahms, everyday we need to think of what to cook for our child, sometimes I really have mental block!

The western breakie looks good, but of cos Sarah might need to take some time to get used to it... u can try again some other time ya :) maybe u can try chopping the sausages into pcs and make it into an omelette! :)

Gwen loves sweet corn. Hotdogs are not Gwen's favourite but she still eats them.

Maybe you should stick to traditional breakfast..hehe.

Yeah, I think "practice" makes perfect:-)

Mommy Gwen:
Gwen loves sweet corn? So will she order it when dining at Mc'D?
At least Gwen still eating sausages altho she doesn't like it. For Sarah, one bite is enuf for her.
You mean the traditional breakfast is..? :-)

Mery:
Thanks!
Too bad, Sarah doesn't egg. But I think it is a good idea to add baked beans. Thanks for the idea.

Kristie:
Yeah, we were just discussing about the issue of mental block in preparing nice food for our lil one.
Sausages omelette? Hmm..I am not sure, but I will try because Sarah doesn't like egg.
Thanks for the idea.

Agnes:
To be honest, I never think of the nutrition facts of sausages:-) But I do not cook it often for my girl.
Haha...kids are like that. The more we advised them not to eat something, the more they want to do so:-)

Doreen:
Then, Ryan loves sausage bun lor?

mNhL:
I like corn with butter and salt. Taste superb!

Shirley:
Hehe. Sarah's version of western breakfast is without egg as she doesn't like it.

Merryn:
Is it? You like American Breakfast yeah? For me, I am okay with it. But I like chicken chop or spaghetti for my dinner.
Haha...Corn is nice hor. For Sarah, she only likes nice food.

Kathy:
Joshua also loves orange juice? Maybe mommy likes to drink it so it will automatically influence him? :-)

Kylie:
I have tried plain sausages before. She still dislike it.

Dora:
Thanks!
Come come come..I cook another serving for you:-)

Mommy Moon:
I just steam the sausages, coz I was too lazy to fried early in the morning.
Actually I have got a super nice sausage from my sister.
Woww...you always buy sausages from Isetan?

Voon:
Thanks for your comment.
For Sarah, she still likes her own version of western breakie, which is corn with orange juice. She dislike egg.

Rachel:
Yea, I also wonder why kids love ketchup so much.
Agreed. As long as our lil angel loves the food, we just give and give:-)

Superman:
Thanks for your comment.
Actually I just trained Sarah self feeding last month and I was so happy that she is able to pick up the skills very well. And the most important thing, she will sometimes eat more when she self feed.

Oic, so since Sarah doesn't like eggs, so u totally omit it from her diet ya?

All styles, scrambled, steamed, boiled etc?

That's a pity, cos eggs are very versatile to cook. Anyway I am sure u can always replace this with other ingredients in ur pantry! :)

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

Kristie:
No, I did not omit egg from Sarah's diet. Coz me and my husband loves it so I will still feed her with it in our daily meal.

Kristie said...

So that's good, at least she don't totally reject it :)

Kristie:
When she sees us eating it, she will eat too.
