Health Supplement

Actually we have long mull the idea of introducing Sarah the Scott’s Emulsion cod liver oil; and our window of opportunity comes when Sarah saw my sister feeding her son the liver oil at grandma’s house the other day. Naturally, she will also want to try, and guess what, she showed no rejection towards it.

Therefore, we’ve decided to let her take it as health supplement; but to play it safe, we bought the smallest one (in orange flavour).

When she first saw the bottle, her mind was so sharp that she told me it is a medicine for flu. Under pressure, I replied: “No, it’s a sweet-sweet, and you will be able to carry a fish at your back just like uncle after having it, you want?”

And she just nods her head, and drinks it.

Guess what? I also started Jayden on cod liver oil yesterday, orange flavoured one. I bought the white one before, and Jayden doesn't like the taste. He is somehow ok with this orange flavoured one, tastes much better. I myself dont like the white one either! :)

My kids used to take it when they were younger. The orange one is more of a favourite as it has better taste.

Haha... my son is the odd one. He takes the plain type as he doesn't like the orange flavour at all. Maybe he doesn't like it too sweet or it's a little sourish for him... :D

I think my mom also fed me this when I was small, but is the white one, yaiksss.

Perhaps I should let my kids try the orange flavor one. They are taking multivitamin supplement, is it okay to take this also?

I used to give Gwen Scotts in orange flavour too. I stopped giving her Scotts instead I'm giving her multi vits(with Vit C too).

Haha...that's a good way to trick her to drink it. I gave the original flavour to Jonathan. He's ok with it but sometimes refuse to take it.

Wenn:
Ditto:-)

Mery:
It is good that Ryan started taking the cod liver oil since 1 yr old and he showed no hesitation towards it.

Moon:
Me too. I was taking it when I was a kid. And I guess I also ate the original flavour.
I am not so sure about taking two supplements at the same time. Maybe you may check with the paed the next time you meet him.
But I guess multivitamin is good enuf.

Doreen:
OOoo...impressed! Ryan likes the original flavour? He is great lah coz even adults also dislike the original flavour.

Denesa:
It was a wise choice that mommy chose cod liver oil as Brendan and Darren health supplement. I am sure both of them have a strong immune system now.

Kylie:
Sean also said the cod liver oil is "juice juice", hehe. As long as they drink it, then they can name it anything yeah:-)

HweiiLi:
Different kids has different taste and food texture preference. So maybe Chloe do not like it at the moment, maybe she will likes it later. Or mommy can buy other type of vitamin supplement which is chewable?
Hope she will likes it.

BoeyJoey:
HQ and QQ both loves cod liver oil? May I know which flavour they like?
You mean the healthy supplement will make them cough?

mNhL:
My mom also take cod liver oil when she has a bad cough and everytime surely worked in stop her from the sickness.
I also took the white one when I was a kid.

Rachel:
Good good good...Glad that Philip likes it.

Superman:
Oh yea, I was taking the original flavour last time. I can't recall how much I like it but I am glad that now I can choose other nicer flavour for Sarah.

Kristie:
Is it? You also bought the same healthy supplement for Jayden?
For me, I never thought of getting the white one for Sarah. I know she won't like it.

CH Voon:
OOoo...impressed! Vanessa likes the original flavour? She is great lah coz even adults also dislike the original flavour.

Kathy:
Good..it is a great news that Joshua think that medicine and cod liver oil is the same. So mommy will have no hassle in feeding him medicine.

Mommy Gwen:
I am sure Gwen has no problem in eating all types of vitamins:-)
Good girl.

Julie:
Hehe, I take it as the compliment.
What to do...I need to use all the trick to get Sarah drinks it.
I always tell Sarah that she will be able to HOP higher and RUN faster when she is eating more rice, therefore I also used the similar trick this time:-)
Woww...Jonathan able to accept the weird taste of the white one. Geng!

Scott's Emulsion is good, but my son do not like it. So I have to source for alternative, chewable vitamin C..
You are so clever to make Sarah willing to take it :)

Merryn said...

ewww.. i dun give that to ethan as i myself dun like it leh.. haha.. so bad of me.

2ma said...

i dun think the boys are taking it too. must ask mummy :)

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

2ma:
It is okay. Maybe Shan Leo and Shan Rae's mommy is feeding them with some other vitamins:-)

Merryn:
Maybe you can buy the smallest bottle (like what I did) and let Ethan try. Who knows he will like it. Or else, can ask the daddy drink lor:-)

Iriene:
Chewable vitamin C is good too. As long as Jensem likes it, then ok:-)
Hehe...I always need to use a lot of trick to get Sarah eat something weird:-)

Yugene:
Oo...not bad yeah. Kyle is about 15kg now? Good good!

Joanne, we first bought the white one cos got DHA written outside the box, kiasu parents heheh... but then when Jayden tried it, he spat it out... and then I tried it, I also spat it out.. so now the white cod liver oil is left for James. Jayden is still trying to get used to the orange flavoured one. Everytime he sees me taking out the bottle, he gives me one funny face hehe...

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

Kristie:
eeeiii..I did not know that the orange one do not have DHA, hehe.
But as long as she willing to drink the cod liver oil, I am very proud of her.
At least someone in your house is taking the white one, hehe:-) I am sure me and Chong will not like the original flavour.
So cute yeah, Jayden will showed you funny face when he knew mommy is feeding him the health supplement.
For me, I will use the Ikea colourful spoon to feed Sarah the cod liver oil. Every time I will change the spoon colour and seems she likes it.

We have tried feed my girls original and orange flavored cod liver oil among others health supplements, they rejected them except spirulina. Now we are giving them Exfuze Seven+, they love the this fruits extract, so we have no problem giving them this supplement.

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

Agnes:
Crystal and Pearl dislike cod liver oil but luckily you have found other types of supplement for them.
Fruits extract? Is it in liquid form?

Sha:
ooo..I never let Sarah try Appeton Multivitamin, so I am not sure too what is it taste like...
Maybe you can find other types of supplement which suits her.:-)

Don't let your children drink too much emulsion cod liver oil as it is very fattening.

Taking natural supplement is better than artificial supplement because it contains natural ingredients that are beneficial to our health system. It is good to take it regularly to maintain a youthful glow.
