Splashing Time

It’s been our practice to let Sarah play in her water pool during weekend once in every two weeks. All this while, she’s playing alone; maybe due to this, she will easily get bored and get up from the water soon enough.

But last Sunday was just not the same…my neighbour’s daughter had join in!

At first Sarah felt excited when she saw “jie jie” (sister) walk towards our house and straight jumped into the pool. The jie jie really had a great splashing time, she enjoyed swimming and spattering inside; but our little girl just watching her doing all the acts and sitting there with her toys.

Then the next thing I know, the crying started (inevitable). The jie jie snatched the toys from her hands and take it out from the pool…

But after a while, Sarah was able to calm down; as time passed she felt more comfortable playing with the girl and even learned to swim from her. At least I could hear some laughter from her, finally.

French Beans, Pumpkin and Sweet Potato Porridge

It is a simple recipe with some simple ingredient.

I was like “Oh no” when Sarah shake her head after the first spoon of porridge, then she said “Mi Mi eats”! I really thought she dislikes the porridge; but luckily she continues to eat the meal and even finished it.

Actually the porridge has a weird taste; it contained the strong taste of french beans yet the sweetness from the sweet potatoes. I am not sure if it was a strange combination but as long as Sarah doesn’t complaint, I’m okay with it.

Udon Soup

The last time Sarah had fried Udon, she was kind of like it; and I also got some comments from my blogger friends that, it tastes equally good when cooking with soup. So here I’m…

It tastes superb! Sarah just loves this Udon soup with sweet peas, mixed veggies and egg. The sweet peas make the udon soup taste so good. She kept asking for “soup soup”.

Sarah’s Showpiece

Let me show you an artwork of the master.

Sarah started to scribble her first drawing on A4 paper with a box of colour pencil; and once she developed more interest towards drawing, we bought a crayon and sketch pad for her.

She enjoyed flipping through the pages that she has drawn, and love asking me to draw things that she like or things that she has seen before, for example swing, see-saw, balloon and etc.

Well, every parent dreams of their children become an artist one day, including us.

Salmon Porridge with Asparagus and Tomato

I just love adding fish into Sarah’s menu, more over it’s a Salmon that with a packed full of nutrients; I guess it won’t be a bad idea to cook it once more.

This lazy mommy had chosen a simple way to cook the Salmon – by just fry it with some butter together with asparagus and tomato…

Oh no, I’ve forgotten to add some lemon juice on the Salmon, so it turned out a bit fishy. How can I afford to leave out such an important step?

And for me, the butter’s taste does not blend well with Salmon; I think I better stick with sunflower-oil next time.

Sarah was unable to finish the meal…was she feeling full or she just don’t like it? Anyway, I will give this porridge another try tomorrow and only then decide whether

Yesterday was the first time we brought Sarah to Megakidz at Mid Valley. I was surprised that Sarah did not look afraid at all upon arriving at the entrance (which she normally will, when she’s in a new environment).

She still looked innocent (or blur-blur) while I was removing her shoes; after that, we brought her straight to the play area that designed for toddler. We were glad that she managed to find some games that warm her up.

Sarah looks serious throughout the early session of the game, but finally getting relaxed and smiles at me. She performed her favourite stunt – hop, and she even lie down and crawl on the floor several times; I think she just curious about the soft material that layered on the floor.

Overall, Sarah loves the rocking-horse and the playhouse the most. We thought that she will like the inflatable bouncer (since she has one mini-version at home), but she just say “No” every time I brought her there.

After spending about two hours in Megakidz, we finally proceed to go home. Sarah was exhausted and almost falls asleep in a sitting position in the car. It was a tiring outing indeed, nevertheless, it was also an eye-opener for her.

Noodles Soup and Fried Eggplant

Noodle Soup with Winter Melon, Mixed Veggies and Fish
I have prepared the winter melon puree for Sarah when she was 11 months old, which also her first try on this vegetable.

And now is the opportunity to refresh her taste bud. This time I decided to cook a (air-dried) noodle soup with the winter melon, some frozen mixed veggies and fish meat.

Frankly all the ingredients above did not add much flavour to the menu, but at least Sarah can taste the variety of vegetables. I am happy that Sarah did not disappoint me, she finished her meal.

Fried Eggplant
I’ve introduced eggplant for Sarah twice, and she loved it. I also like eggplant but I have no confident I can cook one for my own dinner.

I chat with Mery the other day and she has taught me the way to prepared it; she even taught me how to choose the freshest one (I need to thanks her for the detailed explanation).

We all gave a thumb up for this fried eggplant (with a lot of dried shrimp + minced pork).

My husband said it served very well with rice. Sarah could finish her bowl of rice with it. And me, I could eat it on it’s own without rice. It is so delicious!

Four in a row

Back dated post dated 29 July 09

I just can’t believe that I am receiving my fourth gift within a month; and it is from my friend, Yugene.

The moment when Sarah saw the envelope, she seems to know that the gift is for her. She is such a lucky girl that mommies always keep her in their thought. She must have done something good lately.

Now I am so eager to see her put on this nice shirt.

It never fails to amaze me every time the parcel arrived. Thanks again, Yugene.
