Beetroot and Ginkgo Nuts Porridge

Beetroot
I have totally no idea about this vegetable until I saw Caroline used it as the ingredient for porridge. I managed to buy one last Sunday after searching for so long.

So I google the beetroot, and I am amazed with the huge benefits of it; the main benefits was it contains no fat, very few calories and it’s a great source of fibre.

Ginkgo Nuts
I am sure you all have seen it or eaten it before. To be frank, I dislike its funny smell and the weird texture when chewing it. Although I’m not fancy it, but I can’t deny it does help strengthen the vascular system and reduces clots to improve hearing.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Outcome:

I can’t help but to joke with my husband when I saw the result. I asked:” Does it looked like Bloody Mary Punch?” And my next question is, “Will Sarah eats a porridge that’s red in colour?”

Then I showed Sarah the meal, she was so excited about the colour. And guess what, she was able to finish two bowl of it. I must thanks the Beetroot for it colour to entice Sarah to eat more and more…

I feel extremely happy every time when I see Sarah eating the porridge. I just know that she is swallowing all the “goodness” from the ingredients that I have used.

Joanne, I usually cooked beet root with pork ribs (less oily than "chu kuat") or with free-range-chicken... Taste superb!

Now Ashton's porridge will be alternate of pork, chicken or fish with some mixture of mushrooms, potatoes, spinach or carrots. I seldom use Marmite, usually will be some salt, but now moving to organic soy sauce, thanks to Caroline for suggesting that! *wink* Yup, eating porridge is real healthy, but if you were to go on a diet, it's not really helpful coz it's loaded with carbs.

Kristie said...

joanne ya i think the 1st time i've tried beetroot was in a salad! :) fresh and very crunchy and tasty. yes, the colour is bloody haha... either u like or dislike it :)

Maybe I shall try it in salad. Who knows, I will fall in love with it. hehe.

Esmeralda - "taste superb" ya! Ok ok..I will try it in soup next time. Thanks ya.
- Ashton is so lucky, mommy always prepared nice and healthy food for you. Must sayang sayang mommy ya!
- Talk about spinach, such a long time I did not cook it for Sarah. Thanks for your "reminder" hehe.
- I remembered when I first started on diet, I will take porridge for my dinner. Then, I started to feel "jelak" with it because I took it almost daily.
