Fun Time

When Sarah was still a baby, I have more time to take care of my flowers and plant. Every time when I do gardening then, I will just put her in the high chair and leave her with some biscuits or toys. Then I could finish my gardening without much disturbance.

Now, I can’t to do that anymore because Sarah will want me to take her along and find out what am I up to at the garden.

Therefore, I have come out with an idea...I let her play with water while I am gardening.

For me, this is not a bad idea as she will really concentrate with pouring water from the few plastic containers to a pail and with that, she could leave me with my plant for a period of time.

She will play till sweat and her shirts and pants will also be wet. So when I need to get her to bath, she will be very angry and upset.

Zoo Negara

I think it was more of a ‘duty’ and somewhat become a formality for every parent to bring their child to visit Zoo at least once…well, that’s included us.

I can’t remember when was the last time I’ve been to National Zoo….maybe more than 20 years ago. Therefore, when my sister proposed we have a family trip to Zoo on last Sunday, I am quite happy to accept her idea.

We reached the Zoo at about 10am. The place looks a bit run down but it is not as poorly managed as I always imagined. The surrounding is not bad and quite breeze but what lacking is the variety of the animals. It’s probably still far from being world class, but it’s good enough to provide a decent experience for our little one.

Initially, we worried that Sarah will scared of those REAL animal as compared to what she normally saw in the books and TV, but I think we are just over-concern. She was fine after all. Although she looked puzzled when I first showed her the giraffe, but after a while she started to walk all by herself and even attempted to chase the flamingo.

The weather on the day was not too hot therefore we managed to have a decent walk for about two hours before we had our lunch at some kind of ‘fake KFC’…a local-run fast food store which try to imitated KFC, their food taste real bad, I tell you.

As for the real KFC, it doesn’t exist any more, I was told (or maybe we just couldn’t locate it?)

Anyway, Sarah started to feel sleepy after the meal because she woke up very early in the morning (due to diarrhea). We were happy that she could just rest at her stroller without making a fuss, not even cry or asking us to carry.

Overall, our trip to Zoo was quite an enjoyable and educational one (for Sarah). Personal I was feeling awe-struck by the sheer size of these wild animals when I first saw them. Maybe I was too long a time didn’t come close to these real animals.

I think we shall revisit the place when Sarah is grows up.

This morning Sarah woke up earlier than her usual time. After she had her milk and when I thought to put her back to sleep, suddenly she farts and just cried out loud. So, my husband quickly applies some Ru Yi Oil on her stomach.

She had a short sleep and woke up again after that. When I checked on her diaper, I noticed that she had loose stool.

Sarah was okay when we were visiting the zoo (will share more stories on my next post), but when we reached home, again I found she had poo poo in the diaper.

Throughout the day, actually she was as active and cheerful as her normal self. But she will purge after she had meal, including her formula milk.

We brought her to see doctor but according to him, her stomach is not gassy. So we suspect that maybe it is the restaurant that we patron yesterday not hygienic enough, especially their butter and kaya toast. My husband also got diarrhea immediate after he came back from the meal.

She just eaten the medicine that helps to harden the stool and Oral Rehydration Salt at this moment, I will just let her to drink milk which advised by doctor to water down the content and stop her from taking other solid food.

Hopefully she can sleep well through the night and she could recover by tomorrow.

Best Mommy Award

I got here the Best Mommy Award shared by Kylie. "Thanks a lot Mommy for this." I'm really grateful that I'm one of the few whom you've chosen to share this award with.

The rules:
1. Show the award logo in your post.
2. Pick a picture you have with your kiddo(s).
3. Post should include your best experience as a Mom.
4. Nominate other blogger mom's out there that you consider the best mom, like yourself.

When being asked to pen down the BEST experience as a Mom, it took me some time to think of it; because I really have a lot of wonderful moments to share after being a Mom.

It is not easy being a SAHM but the intangible rewards are just great. It's hard at first but I get to be there for every little milestone Sarah hits.

Yes, my life has changed a lot become a mother but with Sarah, she has make me to be a stronger and independent person.

Now I would like to pass the award to all the mommies in my blog roll. You all deserved to be the BEST MOMMY.

Dai Yi Ma Ga Lui

A wired name, it is; but this is the only way I know how to name this menu (in Cantonese, which passed on from my mum.)

Dried shrimp
Chicken meat
Hairy Cucumber
White Fungus

Oyster sauce
Sesame oil

Use some garlic to stir fry the ingredients (in the above order). Then add in the oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt and continue to stir fry. After that, put in some water and cover with lid. Let it simmer for about two minutes. And it’s ready to be served.

The original “Dai Yi Ma Ga Nui” is supposed to cook with glass noodle. But for Sarah sake, I take out the glass noodle as I only need the gravy (with contents, of course)

It turned out to be exactly the same as what I cooked for my usual dinner. But with the chicken and white fungus, it had added a new element into this menu to make it extra special.

And the meal simply tastes yummy and fragrant when served with rice.

This menu is something Sarah like most, gravy with rice. So she can finish most of the rice.

Valentine's Day + Ikea + Study Table

Isn't it weird that we celebrate Valentine's Day at Ikea? Actually it was the place where we were first dating. I know it is not romantic but the most important thing is I spent the day with my “lovers”, Sarah and my husband.

We intentionally skip our breakfast to eat the Swedish meatball there. It is still as good as before and Sarah also enjoyed munching the meatball.

After that, we proceed to the children section to buy a study table (and chair) for Sarah. Actually there are a lot of choices but we have decided to buy these.

We have chosen this table because it does not have sharp edges, which is very safe for our naughty daughter. We thought to buy a lean chair but the design seems too shaky to lean on, so we settle for the stool instead.

Not to forget, we also bought a storage basket to store Sarah’s toys.

Sarah did have a lot of fun at Ikea. She walked a lot which is unlike what she normally does when she was outing. At the end we have to entice her to stand on the shopping cart when we check out. Or else, she will just keep walk and walk and walk…

After we set up the table and the chair when we got home, we were surprised to know that the stool is a bit too high for Sarah. So now every time I have to help her to get up and down from the stool.

Besides that she also found a new way to play with the stool - she enjoyed pushing it around the house! Hopefully our neighbours would not complaint about the irritating noise created by her.

A study table, Swedish meatball and a stroll down the place of our first dating, all in all, it was a wholesome Valentine’s Day outing for us.

Cute’s Blogger Award

1 .Copy Badge “2008 Cute’s Blogger Award” and put it on your blog
2. Link or tell a bit about the person who gave you the award...
3. Each one of you who receive this award must list down 10 facts / hobbies about yourself...
4. Pass this award to 10 bloggers and link them in your blog.

Thanks to Caroline and Kristie for this one. I appreciate it very much. Thanks for always thinking of me.

I know Caroline a year ago through a forum. Since then, we have been chatting over MSN. I enjoyed chatting with her.

Remembered when I first introduced solid food to Sarah, I always bothered her with questions. She never hesitated to answer all my queries.

I think Caroline has much patient than me. From her blog, I seldom hear that she scold Angel although sometimes little Angel does mischief. If for me, I will scream my lung out.

Oh ya, not to forget Caroline are really talented in baking and cooking. I said “talented” because she can views those recipes once and she will reproduce it successfully in her first attempt. She always said she is not good in cooking, but I think she’s just being humble. The good food that she posted in her blog really makes me drooling.

We shared the same hobby, which are rearing fish and fishing. I just know that she has a lot of knowledge in these areas. I shall seek her advice if I need one.

I do agree with what some mommies said about her, she’s really a hot and sexy mommy. I remembered she posted a lot of pictures in her blog (showing her nice belly) when she was pregnant, and this is what I meant about the “sexiness” of her.

I have met Kristie several times in few occasions. I really feel like meeting an old friend. She is a very friendly lady; even Sarah also likes her a lot. Every time she likes to be carry by Kristie and with Kristie around, Sarah tends to forgot about my presence. See, this is how powerful Kristie is…

I know Kristie loves good food. She used to travel to places with her husband just to eat the food. Of course now, she has to bring along her lovely son, Jadyen. Maybe she likes to train Jayden to share the same pursuit as she, LOL!

In short, I am blessed to know Caroline and Kristie.

Thanks for being my buddy.

Here are the 10 facts about me:
1) I have gone for a major operation (intestinal obstruction) in year 2001.
2) I got my driving license in year 1998 but I only ‘officially’ started driving in year 2005.
3) I love to peek on my husband favourite TV programme (EPL football and CSI), although I am not a big fan of it.
4) I know this is a bad habit, but I just love to squeeze toothpaste from the middle
5) I (once) have a pet; I name it I-Sh. It is a lovely rabbit.
6) I was working as an Administrative Assistant in four different companies.
7) I love to collect stickers.
8) I was a class monitor for 6 years (remove to Form Five) in secondary school.
9) I am addicted to coffee.
10) I wear spec only when I am driving and net surfing.

To avoid repeated candidates, I would only tag it to:
1) Yen Ping
2) Serene
3) Mommy Gwen
4) Esmeralda

Google's Joanne Needs!

I got this super cool and interesting tag from Ummi. Thanks ya!

The way it works is you type your name in Google and then needs i.e (Jo needs), and see what comes up!

Here they are:

Jo needs help
(Sarah refused to walk whenever she's outside, she just like me to carry her.)

Jo needs dough

(Sure, who doesn't?)

Jo needs a break
(Looking forward when Sarah is schooling so that I can have some time for myself.)

Jo needs places to stay
(Nonsense, I am now at home sweet home.)

Jo needs a man

(Luckily I have one at home.)

Now I wish to pass the tag to my friends:
1) Serene
2) Esmeralda
3) Sam
4) Caroline
5) Kylie
6) Michelle
7) Jennifer
8) Doreen
9) Kristie
10) Agnes
11) Sha
12) Yvonne
13) Rachel

(Ops, I think my list is a bit too long, but I just wish to share this funny tag to as many people as I know, have fun!)

This is my first attempt at frying a noodle, let alone it’s an Udon.

Before that I have no confident I can fry a decent noodle, but when I saw it in the supermarket, I just came out with the idea of “Fried Udon”. Brave!

I’ve used very simple ingredients this time - Egg, Egg Tofu and “Baby Pak Choy”.

When I asked Sarah: “Nice or not?” this is what she showed to me…

Luckily she likes the meal, but she just can’t finish it. Maybe Udon is more fulfilling compared to other types of noodles.

Some CNY photos

Actually I have nothing much to update about the CNY as we basically just spent most of the time in my parent’s house. To summarize, we were just ‘sleep, eat, drink and be merry’. (Husband manages to ‘earn’ some mahjong money from his in-laws, lucky him.)

Here are some of the photos taken during the festive season.

Ang Pao from us

She was so excited when saw us pulling out the Ang Pao under her pillow and gave to her, on the first day of CNY

Glutinous Rice Ball

I know for me to post something about Glutinous Rice Ball (Tang Yuan) is way outdated now, but after searching for so long I finally managed to get it yesterday.

Anyway, this sweetie is for me, not Sarah, ha-ha.

I’ve used palm sugar to make the sweet soup. This is the first time I cook sweet soup as traditionally my mum only cook salty type of soup which uses dried shrimp and Chinese mushroom.

In order to bring up the aroma of the sweet soup, I have added some pandan leaf too.

Nice, nice, nice! I don’t have much sweet tooth but I just like this dessert. The filling is not too sweet yet rich in contents. No wonder it is highly recommend by my blogging friends.

Sarah did try it too, but she is not so fancy with it.

P/S: A big thank you to Esmeralda for given me a lot of tips and advice on how to prepare the sweet soup.

Broccoli and Carrot Porridge

It’s time for me to get back to kitchen and start cooking for Sarah following the long CNY breaks.

After a stuffed and over-eating festive season, I decided to cook something simple for her and the ingredients were all vegetables.

To be honest, the porridge taste a bit blunt, so I have to add a tiny pinch of salt to bring up the flavour of the broccoli and carrot.

Initially I thought Sarah doesn’t like the porridge but walla, she was able to finish the whole big bowl of it.
