White Honshimeji Mushroom and Sweet Potato Porridge

I saw this White Honshimeji Mushroom when I was shopping last Saturday. This is another type of mushroom (besides Swiss Brown Mushroom and Chinese Mushroom) I used for Sarah’s menu. Since I am not sure about how it taste, therefore I will pair it with a much familiar vegetable - sweet potato.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Outcome:

I told my husband I have a feeling that this will be a weird combination, how wrong I am.

It turned out to be delicious instead. The mushroom does not release much flavour into the porridge, but it still retain it chewy-ness after cooked for more than five hours in the slow cooker.

The porridge has a strong taste of sweet potato. Maybe because of this, Sarah loves it.

Footnote:
To enhance the appealing of the meal, I have sprinkled some raisins on top of it.

Kristie and KC - Thanks for your comment.

Caroline - You mean the texture of the mushroom? Erm, actually I have chopped them into very small pieces, so is more easier for Sarah to eat and swallow it.
- I think mushroom is good for Angel too...

Kylie - Hehe, Sean is good in terms of tasting food. So he can know and sense that the raisins taste in the porridge.

Yen Ping - So nice...5 days working only..Last time I have to work on alternate sat...so boring!
- Natalie is so hang fuk, mommy uses the weekend time to cook porridge for her. Although is a plain porridge, but is an effort from you...Well done!

The shiimeiji mushroom I tried before didn't have much aroma or flavour. I prefer shiitake or oyster mushroom over shiimeiji.

Btw, I have another blog where you can find more photos of John. If you are interested, feel free to drop by at Home Sweet Home.

Lydita...Yes, is true...the mushroom does not have much flavour, but I just thought to give a try since Sarah never try it b4.
