TGIB (Shopping Part)

These are the items that we managed to grab from the “quick” shopping trip at Subang Parade last week.

‘Beep Beep’ Shoe

Gradually, Sarah had outgrown the white colour shoe which we bought for her when she was one year old.

When she first wears this ‘beep beep’ shoe, she seems not so used to it. Maybe she feels unsecured because of her foot was not fully wrapped, or maybe because of the funny sound. Anyway after a few trials, she now can walk with it comfortably.

VCD

It was quite some time we did not buy any VCD for Sarah. We bought this because she started to feel bored with the same old songs that she listened through the past one year.

Yellow Tops

When I looked into Sarah’s wardrobe, I noticed that she has a lot of dresses but few tops. So we have decided to buy the tops.

Hairy Cucumber and Fish Porridge

Sometimes I really run out of idea on what to cook for Sarah. Therefore, when I go for grocery shopping, I will see what are the vegetables which I like to eat, then I will used it as the ingredient for Sarah’s menu.

I like hairy cucumber very much; normally it is for cooking soup. So this time I will used it as the main ingredient for the porridge. I also added some fish into it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OUTCOME:

Erm…I think the hairy cucumber is better to be cooked with soup than porridge, because it does not bring much flavour to the meal. It turned out the porridge looked and taste a bit plain.

Nevertheless with some marmite it still do the trick, Sarah can finish the porridge at last.

TGIB (Thank-God-It’s-(my)-Birthday)

Yesterday I celebrated my birthday at TGI Friday Subang Parade branch. It was a simple eating-out with just me, my husband and Sarah.

I am so looking forward for the dinner as it was our favourite dining spot when we were dating back then; plus we haven’t been there for more than a year now. We surely miss the food there.

When we reached TGIF, Sarah seems to be fine but things changed when she was greeted by the attended staff…she cried! Oh my, her loud voice can clearly be heard by everyone. Luckily I managed to calm her by carrying and showed her the surrounding of the restaurant.

Once she settled down we started to make our order. We have ordered the Jack Daniel Steak and Friday Shrimp (it was our old faithful). We thought that Sarah would like spaghetti which we specially ordered for her, but she doesn’t like it. She ended up eating some fries and mashed potato.

After the meal, we proceed to shopping. We were left to wonder why Sarah just keeps showing her fussiness during the whole shopping trip, which is quite unusual for her. But we still manage to buy some stuff then headed home.

Once we reached home, we continue the celebration by cake-cutting ceremony.

Although my 28th birthday was just celebrated with a simple outing, but I treasure every moment we spent together. They are really more than what I could ever ask for. For me, yesterday was just simply unforgettable.

P/S: Thanks all mommies who sent me warm birthday wishes. I appreciated it very much. Thank you.

On the second day of Christmas…

I wish to thank Amanda for sending a Christmas gift to Sarah. I’ve got a water bottle from the courier today.

I love the water bottle very much because of its pinkish colour. The bottle is printed with the character that most girls will like…the Barbie!

This is definitely a useful and thoughtful gift; as Sarah already masters the skill in drinking water using sippy cup, so later I will upgrade the current one to this bigger size “sippy cup”.

Thanks again Amanda, this is so sweet. Our heartfelt appreciation to you.

First Christmas Party

We were invited by my sister to a Christmas lunch. We feel delighted with the invitation as this will be the first Christmas party we ever attended.

We reached her house at about 1:30 noon. This is first time Sarah been there, that’s why she cried when being greeted by my sister’s in-law families. Luckily she was able to calm down after I offered her some biscuits.

From there on, she started to mingle around with two little sisters there. She felt even more comfortable when seeing my parents and sisters arrived.

The lunch started at 2:00 noon after prayers. The food is nice and a little spicy, but we did enjoy it. Sarah also enjoyed eating her porridge (prepared by me) while busy playing with the toys. When she saw us eating the “papadam”, she also want to try and guess what, she just loves this crunchy snack at first bite!

When it is gift-opening time, Sarah got herself two Christmas gifts (from my sister and her in-law). Of course, there is one for me too! And here are the presents we got today…

We were very pleased with Sarah’s behavior throughout the day, and it was a joyful event for us. In that spirit, wishing all of you a Merry Christmas…

Bean Strip Soup

It has been a while I did not blog about Sarah’s menu. The reason is we were mostly dinning outside of late due to functions; in that case, Sarah will normally eat whatever food that available for us.

Today when I am checking through the ingredients in the fridge, I saw some fresh spinach and tomato, so here come the idea of this recipe.

I decided to cook a soup using anchovies, spinach and tomato. Once these ingredients have brought to boil, I added some Chinese mushroom and also chicken meat. The soup will serve with bean strip.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OUTCOME:

Nice, nice, nice! The deseed tomato and Chinese mushroom had enhance the sweetness of the soup. It tastes rich.

As for the bean strip, Sarah loves it very much. She can finish almost all of them. I feel satisfied seeing her enjoyed the meal.

When you fall, I will lift you up

One of my most anticipated moments of motherhood is happening now– Sarah can finally walk, albeit just a few steps.

For the past two months, Sarah has been standing and walking along the furniture but she seems not so ready yet. She will stumble, pick herself up then fall again.

Sometimes I will worry is that we carried her too much that she doesn’t want to walk? Was she lagging behind? But then again I guess all children are different in their development in term of pace.

But, for the last few days she started to walk independently more often than she used to be…I reckon she has garnered enough courage by now; and day by day it is obviously she had improving her skill with more confidents growing.

Don’t be afraid, my daughter, be brave.

Take a step forward.

Finally, now your destiny can begin.

Fish with Cream Corn and Asparagus

I have seen this cream corn when I went for sundry shopping last Sunday; I bought it without any idea how to apply it on Sarah’s menu. But when I saw the fish and the asparagus later, somehow I know what to do now…

I’ve diluted the sweetness of cream corn by adding in some water; after boiling, I just cook it with the fish and asparagus. I intend to serve this menu together with rice.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Outcome:

The dish turned out exactly as what I have expected; and the gravy has becomes more a natural sweetness as well. It does tastes good when eating with rice.

Early Christmas Gift

Today, Mr. Postman had fetched us a surprise gift…

This is such a lovely Christmas gift from Natalia. I like it very much as the hankies are so cute and colourful with the graphics printed. I’m sure Sarah will like it too.

Natalia was so thoughtful that she even designed a very cute message card attached with the gift. Isn’t she a sweet mommy?

Thank you, Natalia. We really appreciate your well wishes; and Merry Christmas to you too.

Pre-CNY Shopping (for Sarah)

Two days after I went shopping for my Chinese New Year clothes, we were heading to Pyramid yet again…this time is to buy some clothes for Sarah.

And here are the items that we have bought for her.

This has been the longest time we spent in baby department so far, as we are quite choosy in picking the right clothes for Sarah (in terms of size and colour).

It is not an easy task for us because she started to feel frustrated after waiting too long in the stroller. Luckily we managed to shop most of her items at the end.

So have you planned your Pre-CNY shopping yet?

Silk Squash and Potato Porridge

This is a new type of vegetable I introduced to Sarah today – the silk squash.

I often see silk squash in the marketplace but I have no idea how it taste like (with the weird look of it). I am not daring to try until I saw Mery feed it to her son.

So finally I’ve bought one yesterday and used it to cook porridge. Besides silk squash, I also used potato as an ingredient in this menu.

In order to enhance the sweet taste of the porridge, I have added in two small slices of ginger and also half a tea spoon of anchovies powder…

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OUTCOME:

It is not a bad attempt though; the porridge turned out nice and tasty although it looks plain. My decision to add in the ginger and anchovies powder was proven right as they really brought out the flavour of the silk squash.

Sarah just loved this vegetable very much, and she finished the porridge as well.

P/S: Thanks Mery for sharing this great information about Silk Squash.

After naps

Recently I noticed that Sarah loves to stay in the cradle for some time when wake up from her afternoon naps.

If I carry her out from the cradle right away, she will start to feel frustrated and sometimes end up crying…

But now we have thought a way out to convince her to get up from the cradle without crying but with laughter instead...We let her sit on the cradle and swing it!

Warning: Don’t try this at home; as me and my husband are professionally trained to handle this kind of naughty baby.

Mission Accomplished

Still remember our unfinished business?

Finally, we are glad to complete with all Sarah’s pictures in the photo frame after much delay; and here are the final outcome…

We suppose to process the photos (from 6th month to 12th month) by September, but we are just too busy to select the right photos and get it done on time.

By looking at the photos, Sarah really has changed a lot for the past 12 months. How time flies…

Just to “show off” (2)

Once in a while my husband will do some sweet things.

I’ve started to shop for my Chinese New Year clothes today. In order for me to enjoy my shopping without interrupted by Sarah, my husband was task with taking care of her by strolling her around.

When in the middle of shopping, he told me that he would bring Sarah to the shop outside the Jusco department store; of course I am happy with his suggestion as I can concentrate more with my shopping.

After half and hour later when we met again he asked:” Have you bought enough of your clothes? If not, I have this for you…” Then he just pulled the jewellery box out and said it was a gift for my coming birthday…

Oh my God! Suddenly I can recall that yesterday he was jokingly saying he will buy me a gift for my birthday this year; I just didn’t take it seriously. I should!

It is a white gold necklace with a tiny little diamond (according to the sales girl) in the pendant. For me, I will not mind whether I got a diamond or a stone necklace, it is the “heart” that matters.

I guess I still can’t stop smiling right now…Thank you, dear.
