Being “attacked” again!

From fever, throat redness to rashes and now Sarah is down with flu and cough. Her nose was blocked with a lot of mucus and she also cough with phlegm.

We did not bring her to see paed as paed once told us that, if she is able to eat well and stay active as usual, there will be no major problem. Therefore, I just feed her with the medicine which I have bought from the clinic.

I feel relief whenever I feed her the medicine, as she has no problem in swallowing all of them. One thing do bother me though, is her sleep will occasionally disturbed by blocked nose.

Thank God she is now recovering gradually. I will definitely bear with Sarah during this period of time. I know it is not easy for her to fall ill consecutively for two weeks.

Poor little girl! Hope she'll recover soon. Joanne, if she has continuous blocked nose and it's affecting her slp, u might need to get some paediatric nasal spray for her. U can ask ur paed regarding that. I'm using the Iliadin 0.025% Nasal Spray, or the Oxynase 0.025% Nasal Spray.

Mommy Gwen - Thanks for your concern.

Esmeralda - Thank you too..
Today she is getting better in terms of cough and nose blocked. Actually I do have a nose drop at my house. It is the same as nasal spray?

Joanne, u r welcome. Nose drops and nasal spray is almost the same, just that the spray is not too watery as compared to drops, and the spray will not make so much a mess. But just BEWARE that the nose drops must be for paediatric use (ie for infants). Do take note of that ya. U can get them from the chemist too.

Poor Sarah .... but I am glad she is getting better now. Normally when Angel gets fever, then she will have flu and cough then will be fully recover so don't worry ya. I think like Esmeralda said, Iliadin toddler nose drop is quite good and will helps but you need to seek advice from your paed just for sure coz Iliadin is a short terms remedy and cannot be used for more then 1 week or else, it will have diverse effect so .... better check with your paed just for sure.

Caroline - So is normal that when fever attacks, then it will follow by cough and flu? For Sarah this is the first time she is like that.
- Yeap, that nose drop is call Iliadin, now I can remember the name. - thanks for inform me about the effect of using it more than a week. I will take note of it.

Su Ying, Yen Ping and Kylie - Thanks for your concern.

Esmeralda - I think next time I will get the nose spray because whenever I use the nose drop on her, she seems like doesnt like it.
- Yeap, the one that I am having is from the clinic.

Serene - I also quite shock that she is so obedient when taking the medicine.

Yeah.. I do think that nose spray is much easier to administer to infants & toddlers. I hv both coz last time I brought the nose drops for our trip to Australia (otherwise I might just do with the nose spray). Sorry forgot to remind u regarding the danger of using it for >7 days coz I usually use it on Ashton max 3 days.

Queenie - Thanks for your concern.

Esmeralda - I wonder what is the diverse effect if I have used the nose drop more than 7 days?

I'm sorry Joanne. I'm not sure what's the diverse effects were, but just take note of it.

Hi JT, the diverse effect of prolong usage of such nasal drops is called Rhinitis Medicamentosa which is a rebound nasal congestion causing the swelling of the nasal passages which may eventually lead to permanent nasal blockage.

Caroline - Thanks for your great info. I have stopped using it since the day you mentioned the diverse effect to me (altho i just used it for several days). Sounds scary, permanent nasal blockage!

Esmeralda - Is ok, Caroline have let me know about the diverse affect.
Thanks ya!

Yugene - Thanks for your concern. Sarah is still having cough and flu, and I think it takes some time for her to fully recover.
Actually I did applied vicks to her, but not as rajin as you..hehe.
Yeap, I think I have panda eyes too..
